Photos grasp the heart even more so than the mind. One moment near and dear to one soul, is one to last into eternity. One must die with more moments in the mind than things in the hand." The foreseeable future is something that weighs heavily on my mind throughout every day, week, month, and year. I have nearly been alive on this planet for two decades. That doesn't come a surprise for me, but as I have aged I have began to understand that my mind needs to have a solid outlook on the future. The concept of 'things' weighs on my mind on a near constant daily basis. The possessions that we seek need to be memories, not things -memories with the people we love, memories with pets we adore, and even memories exploring some place new. Life is never about purely survival, it is about finding joy in the smallest moments. Ever since the first time I stepped foot in Hawaii, I have been hooked on the idea of capturing every moment. Photos really help the mind see and remember the best moments in life. Hawaii has shown me a lot, so I thought I would write a little poem about the islands. The Angel's Paradise Wind rushes past the ear canal Waves crash Water kisses the shore Walls get pounded with splashes Flowers bloom before the eyes Fire dancers twist circles mid air Faint smells of coconut fill the air Flashes of moonlight touch the water Many gather More sing Most of all, this is home Merry Joy and gladness Silent echoes the night Sunbeams brighten the day Single is the female wearing the flower They are that of the Angel's Paradise Connections are what often keeps my mind alive and running clear. I have found out that memories are the lifeblood that fuels everyday life. Of course, passion is there too, but what is passion without the memories that fuels it? Nothing. Hawaii is a place near and dear to my heart and it will always remain that way.
