Hawaii is one of the most popular travel spots, and I can see why. Having been to Hawaii five times, these islands have a deep connection with my soul. Each time I travel back to the islands I always end up finding more wonderful things to do, see, and visit. It seems as if this small archipelago in the middle of the Pacific always has something nice to offer. Hawaii is gorgeous. I have almost no words to describe the beauty held within that place. Why do I love learning and expanding my horizon? Nelson Mandela said the following, "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I want to share my knowledge with the world so I can create more ideas and generate more information. "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Besides the pure beauty that the islands offer, they also showcase a lot of history. I have to admit that a little history while traveling allows the soul to better connect to the surrounding area. Learning about the history of new places is a wonderful addition to the trip. One of these interesting sites that gives a historical background is the grave of the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh. Lindbergh was a pilot that flew across the Atlantic ocean. He actually requested to be buried on the island of Maui. The grave is located on the Road to Hana. This is a winding road that travels up the coast of Maui. It is very pretty -very indescribable. Since I am an aspiring pilot, who also loves history, I was super interested in this site. The location of the grave overlooks the ocean. The surrounding plumeria trees make a very surreal scene. It was really interesting visiting this area. The small cemetery overlooks the vast ocean. I have heard from visiting the site that the reason why he wanted to be buried there was due to the fact that he loved the island of Maui. As a future aviator, this experience will forever be one that I will never forget.
The most historically deep experience that I have had was none other than Pearl Harbor. This is a very important place to hit up on the island of O'ahu. Since this is such a historically significant place it is a must travel. I loved going to Pearl Harbor. There is just so much to see there. One of the battleships -battleship Missouri- floats on the ocean's surface. Tourists can walk up on the deck and see the massive size of this ship. Secondly, visiting the USS Arizona memorial is a must. I have to say that it was a very neat experience and it deepened my understanding of both world and American history. I truly believe that learning history is highly important, and visiting the memorial was a very neat way to do so. Another interesting aspect about Pearl Harbor is the USS Bowfin Submarine. Traveling throughout the narrow tunnels and navigating through the small space made for an interesting experience. The Pacific Aviation Museum was nice as well. Several planes with deep history are held here. The hangar itself actually holds a lot of history. Pearl Harbor is just one of those places that I believe everyone needs to visit at least once. I must mention that I loved this experience so much that I am yearning to return. The palace -Iolani Palace- is also on O'ahu. I was only able to explore some of the palace due to narrowly missing the closing time. What I saw was very neat. Before Hawaii was made a state they were ruled by a monarchy. That means they had a queen and a king. I never really thought of this until visiting the royal palace. I have to admit that it is very pretty. My favorite part of this was seeing Queen Liliuokalani's coronation dress accompanied with the sheet music of her famous song 'Aloha 'Oe.' Hawaii has many statues of its greatest heroes and most famous people. A couple of these include Duke Kahanamoku and King Kamehameha. Historical figures are so important in Hawaiian culture and the uniqueness of the islands. This is only a slice of the historical sites located on the islands of Hawaii. The uniqueness of every place on earth is so much deeper than what is on the surface. visiting these sites will help gain information about that deeper meaning. Hawaii is loaded with so many unique experiences covering so many hobbies, likes, and skill levels. History is one of the many reasons why I keep visiting the islands. Because of Hawaii I have been able to expand my knowledge of the world. These are highly recommended sites that are sure to leave an impact on your life.
