So... what does the phrase 'shift your perspective' mean? Alright now: cars. I am sure that everyone is pretty aware of my pure obsession with cars. It is only a new perspective that I have been able to gain within the past few months. With my German obsession came the car obsession. It has been both a blessing and a curse in a way because now I am crazy for all German cars. For example the Volkswagen Jetta, Audi R8, and the BMW I8. So... what does the phrase 'shift your perspective' mean? I honestly have gotten into deep thought about this topic. Lately with figuring out schooling and trying to move forward with life I have been able to dig a little deeper with this whole idea of shifting perspective. Through all of the more recent experiences I have been able to completely change my entire mindset. I personally drive a Volkswagen Jetta S; this car is a six speed manual transmission. It is quite a peppy car that is just all around built to, in my opinion, perfection. I personally love to come up with analogies to live my life by. Sometimes I struggle to find a strong motivation outside of aviation. However, I love to create analogies, quotes, and sayings to keep my motivation in check. This has been one of them, and thanks to my car I have been able to forward my quote book. There is nothing quite like being able to have full control of your car on the road. I have to admit that at first my mind was terrified of driving a manual car, but I was able to grasp the concept in no time at all. It was one of the challenges that I have gone through, but in the end it was so worth it. I would never trade my manual transmission car for an automatic one. I will always have a manual car and I will never go back to an automatic. With that being said: my perspective shifted. It literally shifted from first to sixth within just a couple of weeks. Sometimes these mind changers are so important in life. As everyone ages the time also changes. Everyone has their minds shifted quite a lot. Throughout my life I have been able to change perspectives many times. Life goes on and our minds take in new information like the car takes in new gas. Our brains function as our engines that power our bodies through everyday. Our feet are the wheels that navigate the roads. Every bone in our body is like the frame holding the car together. No matter what eye color someone has their eyes are still like the navigation system. Our hearts are the steering wheel, taking hold of the car and directing it. The passions buried deep within give the engine -the brain- its horsepower and torque. The blood running through our veins is the gas that powers our vehicle. The smile that is present on the face can be attributed to the logo emblem on the front of the car. I did not do that to add personification to the car, but rather a more relatable context between the two. A lot of times we as humans -I myself included- forget the smallest things. Human beings relate to more than we could ever realize. Shifting the Jetta has helped completely shift my perspective, and with a lot more motivation I have been able to zoom about with plenty of confidence. “I climb behind the steering wheel… I drive off immediately without once looking back; it’s a long journey but it leads to freedom.”
