For the longest time my soul has found that connection with the plant world. It seems as if I have a deeply odd connection with planes, animals, and plants. It is never ending, but they are great obsessions to have. Gardening has been around for thousands of years. This is something quite hard to wrap our minds around, but at the same time it is easy. Men and women have been cultivating the land and working with animals. It is amazing to think about our symbiosis with both abiotic and biotic nouns. I bet we would never realize how closely we rely on worms, dogs, and cattle. On the other hand there are objects that we have a deep connection to: soil, rocks, and minerals. Humans rely on a lot to live. I have to admit that it took me so long to wrap my mind around this concept. It is relatable to our modern day phones. Nowadays we never (I myself included) travel outside without it. Our minds and bodies rely on so much in order to stay healthy. I mentioned a word above that can give a deeper insight on this weird connection. That word is symbiosis. Living in a symbiotic relationship means two things live close together and benefit. The most common type involves two different organisms that both benefit each other. A little while back I took a marine biology class where we touched a lot on this topic. However, this does not ever just apply to marine animals. I personally love the example of the clownfish and the sea anemone. Both of these rely on each other in ways that are simply remarkable. An example of this bond on land would be orchids and trees. I could go on forever about this, but I thought I could barely touch on it so that everyone can understand the concept of relying on another 'thing.'
Men and women have always needed to eat and drink in order to stay healthy. Our bodies need nutrients in order to maintain optimal function. It was not until the past 5 years that I got into this whole eating organic, healthy, and choosing foods wisely type of idea. For example, in May of this year will be my 5 year mark of not eating any chocolate, cocoa products, or byproducts of cocoa. I am elated that I have made it this far. It has taken a lot of commitment, but in the end it is so worth it. No, I did not quit eating cocoa products just for fun. It gave me migraines and made me sick to my stomach. I have quite a bad allergy and it simply was never worth it. I thought to myself: 'why not take the risk to better my health through one simple change.' From that day in May of 2017 I vowed to never consume or drink a cocoa product again. It simply will never ever happen. I know, crazy, right? I don't think so because it has been one of the best things I have done for myself. Our health needs to be the top priority and no I am not just saying that because of me wanting to be a commercial airline pilot. I am literally begging from experience, research, and experimentation. Everyone needs to pay close attention to food. I guess I can say that I am extra cautious when it comes to what goes into my body. I heavily limit my sugar consumption after what I have learned. Alright, food is necessary, but what is good and what is not? It is really all up to your own personal needs and opinions when it comes to choosing what you specifically want to consume. Whatever, but I thought I would give some information from what I have been through. I have always heard the phrase 'you are what you eat'. I also have that saying always in my mind at mealtimes. It is not that I am self conscious about what I eat, it is just that I try to really prioritize my health. Now I feel so inclined to discuss matters regarding the concept of organic vs non organic. What does that mean? First, overtime things change... gardening and cultivating have been two of those things to undergo severe and rapid changes within the past 150 years. With the rapid change in farming comes the rapid change in diets. The diets of humans have evolved from a highly nutrient dense one to a fatty and fast food diet. That is not exactly good at all especially when looking at it through a long term health timeline. New diagnosis's are being made everyday that did not necessarily exist 150 years ago. See, our bodies are not really meant to be eating some of the more modern foods. I am not a professional, but from my personal research and watching documentary after documentary I can say that it is ever so important to eat healthy foods. In order to live a balanced life there needs to be balanced lifestyle choices. This also goes for food as well. Within the past year I have been overly obsessed with the word balance and the idea of balance. Sometimes we often just think of balance as a scale, but it is really more than that. When looking at a bigger picture when it comes to life balance means eating a healthy diet, having good posture, and having a good, strong brain. Something that has long been on my mind and something that I have done quite some extensive research on is organic foods and non organic foods. Some people may get confused and think of it as items that are not food, but that is wrong. It is quite confusing to explain this without going into too much detail. There will always be more posts about this subject, but I cannot go into too much detail or mention certain brand names. With that being said, the statement is simple: choose organic. Whatever goes into our bodies has influence on us. I am not a health professional, but I can say that nutrition and food is highly important...
