Ever since I got my first glimpse into the world of aviation I have been hooked. Aviation is without a doubt serotonin raising. Since the first moment that I took a slow walk through the airport I have longed to go back, which is why I am yearning to become a commercial airline pilot. The world was opened up to me in a way that it was not before. Sure, I knew planes existed, but I never thought about it. It was one of those 'overlooked' things in my life. I’ve always sort of had a connection with aviation my whole life. I’d always love to swing on the swing in the afternoons after school and during the summer months. I’d pretend like I would 'touch' the sky. My heart would lay heavy as I nearly hit the ground again, but the swing saved me from falling. Wind would blow in my face causing my hair to flop around, but what exactly did this mean? Why did I like this so much? The answer to that question can be titled, 'the call to fly,' or even the 'call to be a pilot.' I guess that I can say that this has been nothing short of an odd journey. Being a future female pilot is interesting, but amazing all at the same time. That call to fly has pressed me to move forward and push through schooling so that I can begin my flight training in the fall of this year. It really all started in the year 2017 when I became known as the infamous word: 'av-geek.' That is basically a fancy term for a big time aviation nerd. Someone who always longs to be by planes, or to fly them. Pilots, flight attendants, air traffic controllers, and plane spotters alike can classify themselves in this category. I have already created a couple posts about the beginning of my aviation journey. The sweet smell of jet fuel burned my nose as I walked down the jet bridge... In my personal opinion, life is all about the small and simple things. Well, that is exactly what captivates my soul with both the aviation world and the concept of flight. Every little detail is amazing. From the smell of the coffee in the airport, to the rumble of jet engines staring up, and even to the simple steps down the jet bridge that lead out of the terminal and into the plane. All of my airport experiences have encouraged me even more to pursue my path as a commercial airline pilot. There is nothing like walking around an airport. It is quite a relaxing experience for me. Pure joy happens when I get a window seat right above the wing. A brilliant flame sort of lights inside when I see the flaps moving up and down. Eagerly waiting for the engines to fire up causes me to hypothetically sit on the edge of my seat with excitement. The rapid acceleration of the plane makes me so intrigued by the speed. Every unique aspect of aviation just builds up and builds up within my mind. "Flying is freedom and freedom is flight." Walking down that jet bridge has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me... Aviation is my surefire passion that will go on forever. Going forward, I will always have my eyes towards the sky. Without even second guessing myself, "flying is freedom and freedom is flight!"
