Some very sad aviation news hit Ukraine, the world, and aviation enthusiasts... The majority of everyone most likely knows what happened to the Antonov AN-225 Mriya by now. This plane was the only one ever made of its kind, which makes it even more sad that it was lost... Antonov is a Ukrainian based airplane manufacturer that produces several types of aircraft. Many people have heard of the Boeing B747 -which is known as the queen of the skies amongst aviation enthusiasts- and the Airbus A380. The A380 is tagged as the largest passenger aircraft. However, not very many know about the Antonov AN-225 Mriya. Both the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380 have four engines. The Antonov 225 has a total of six engines; three under each wing. The 225 is the largest plane in the world. Unfortunately, this wonderful plane was destroyed... I was very saddened to read about the devastating destruction of this plane. The only one of these planes -the only Antonov AN 225 Mriya- is gone. Unfortunately that is the end of this gentile giant -for now... I thought I would make this post because these weekly aviation flyday posts are where I take time to reflect on not just my aviation journey, but the aviation news as well. "A sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns." I please ask that you check out my other post reflecting on the current events of the world: A Sunflower for the World.
