3/18/2022 0 Comments Weekly Flyday Post VWhat Does a Career in Aviation Mean to Me? Ever since I was a young child I have had this connection with the sky. This interrelation was almost indescribable -unlike anything else. My eyes would watch the clouds seemingly float by as the wind blew. There is just something so fabulous about being able to ‘touch’ the sky. The principles of flight are marvelous, and ever since the year of 2017 I was finally opened up to the world of aviation. One simple trip to Hawaii opened up my little 13 year old eyes to the metal birds of the sky. With that being said, ever since then I have known that flying is for me. Being in the sky, in command of an aircraft, has been a five year long dream of mine. Aviation itself has been the forefront of my life encouraging me to keep my eyes toward the sky. Since aviation has been a long time dream of mine, a career in aviation would mean the world to me. Getting a career in aviation, more specifically a commercial airline pilot, would make all of my dreams come true. I have waited a very long time to finally be able to pursue my personal life goal of flying. Furthering my dream will open up so many possibilities for both myself and others. For the longest time, with my future pilot career, I have hoped to help others through their own aviation journey. I know how much a career in aviation means to me, so I know how much it means to others as well. Aviation is not just merely an industry, but it is a fire burning passion within. A career in aviation means more than just being a pilot. In my personal opinion, a career in aviation means being a mentor, a teacher, and a leader. The pilot community is a tight knit one where pilots aid aspiring pilots and vice versa. On a more personal note and being a female, I have a passion for both aviation and helping others find their way to accomplish their own goals within the aviation industry. It is that deep connection that every aviation enthusiast alike has with the sky, the planes, and the concept of flight. Being in the industry means more than just flying, it is teaching others. Whether it is teaching someone else to fly, or discussing flight experiences with other pilots; a pilot is a teacher in some way. There is a lot more to aviation than just flying -there is so much to be learned one from another. Finally, people in aviation as well as pilots are leaders. The typical leader position is the captain of a commercial airline flight, however and furthermore all pilots need to make wise decisions and take control of the plane. In the end, there are so many different aspects of being a pilot, and that is the same with any career in aviation. Another wonderful meaning of a career in aviation to me is being able to travel, see new places, and meet new people. Travel has long been a part of my soul. The thought of travel is enough to excite my brain, especially when I know that I will be going somewhere new. No day in the aviation world is ever the same. In a career choice I am focusing on a position of diversity of scheduling where nothing is the same. My mind has always loved change. With both travel and a contrasting schedule I will be able to meet new people from different areas. Whether it is like minded pilots, or just people in general I certainly look forward to expanding my horizons with a career in aviation. A career in aviation means that I will be able to tread in the footprints of both the past and the present day aviators that I look up to. Much appreciation goes towards the Wright Brothers for creating the first flyable aircraft. One of the female pilots that I look up to the most is Amelia Earhart. She has fueled my aviation passion in so many ways, which has encouraged me to travel forward in this industry. Amelia Earhart once said, “there is more to life than being a passenger.” That quote has been amongst the many that has inspired me to push forward so I can be on the other side of the cockpit door. A few -more modern day- aviators that have inspired me are: Jessica Cox, Michelle Gooris, and Tammie Joe Schultz. While there are so many more aviators that have inspired me, these are only a mere few. However, being able to follow these aviator's footsteps is such an honor. With that being said, having a career in aviation will have an even deeper connection within my soul for this reason. I can be like these pilots and inspire others to chase their own dreams. Aviation has a deeper meaning to me than anything else on this planet. For the longest time the sky has called out my name -almost summoning me to my second home. Having a career in aviation would mean the world to me. Being able to finally catch my dream is the most amazing feeling ever. Being a pilot, or being in aviation means being a leader, a teacher, and a mentor for others; inspiring others to come fly high. Since schedules in the aviation world have such a high variation, this will allow me to see new places, meet new people, and chase the clouds. Having a career in aviation means I will be able to tread in the footprints of past and present aviators. To me, this is such an honor to tread in these pilots' footsteps. Having a career in aviation will help me inspire others just like those before me. I yearn to spend everyday of my life up in the sky: where I feel most at home. I love the feeling of takeoff and landing, and the bumps of air along the flight as the plane easily glides through the air. One day I will live my life in the sky, but through pilot eyes. "There is more to life than being a passenger."
