There is a saying that always goes something like this: "once an individual tastes flight, their mind will forever be caught up in the clouds." From my experience in aviation I can really attest to this statement. There is just something so unique about the concept of flight and the ability to be up in the sky. Being able to finally see and experience that exhilarating feeling forces the soul to connect to the sky. It is even hard -still to this day- for my mind to even wrap around the concept of flight. Everything about it is just glorious. "Flying is freedom and freedom is flight." If there was one hundred and one things I could write down about aviation, that list would go beyond that number. Everything about it is just so blissful and freeing. Personally, aviation is that connection with heaven. That sky is always there above us. With the weather changes everyday, the flight patterns of aircraft, and the music of the jet engines, I can certainly say that this industry is brighter, bigger, and more glorious than any other that exists. Being able to share that connection with both the skies and the industry, I have been able to see myself in a whole new way. Furthermore, I have also been able to understand science and technology. With everyday changing before our eyes, it is ever so important to remember that sheer connection that we all share with one sky.
There are several items that inspire me. I do have multiple people and pilots who have inspired me to further my life in this industry. However, what about a movie? I do not typically mention movies, songs, or TV shows that inspire me. However, today I felt that it is necessary to mention this. Today is a very special day that we have all been waiting for... today marks the release of 'Top Gun: Maverick.' It has been quite sometime since the releasing of the first movie. Now we all can view the newest and most action packed aviation movie out there. 'Top Gun' has certainly been a movie to inspire me to further my eye in the av-world. I personally have been able to see the first movie. From what I saw.... I loved it! There is nothing more amazing in the eyes of an av-geek than watching planes fly across the screen. Being able to see these planes fueled my love for aviation. When watching the first movie I could not help but picture myself there flying one of the aircraft. A good movie always allows the viewer to picture themselves in the movie with the characters. For me, 'Top Gun' did just that. Every time I even think of that movie I get really excited because I remember my vision. While I am not going military like what the movie featured, I can say that it has still encouraged me to keep going in order to achieve my goals of being a commercial airline pilot. How is the freedom of flight exhibited in this movie? It is purely present in the planes and the professional -ace- fighter planes. It is purely amazing to think how far mankind has come with all of the technological progressions. From the Wright Flyer even until the modern Boeing B737 MAX, we can see these ever so amazing technological differences and changes. The fighter planes (F-14s, F-22s, and F-35s) simply show off this evolution so to speak. With the display of aircraft in the movie 'Top Gun,' it proves that freedom is purely found in flight. For the longest time flying has been a curiosity of mankind. Now flying is easier than ever before. 'Top Gun' has proven that freedom is indeed found in flight. Every pilot's ultimate dream is to fly in a very agile aircraft with twists, turns, flips, and rolls. Being able to experience that would be a heavy rush of adrenaline with a serious boost of serotonin. The movie 'Top Gun' gives a tiny slice into what it would actually be like to dogfight in an aeroplane. With the perfect sounds, the adrenaline rush of the action, and the boost of the music, this movie is sure to make any av-geek's mind go crazy. Fasten your seatbelts, hear the sound of the engines roar, and feel the drag.
